"Lullaby" is a charity single released by the Together For Palestine initiative. It reimagines the traditional Palestinian folk song Yamma Mawil al Hawa to send a message of solidarity and raise urgent funds for children and families in Gaza.
The Concept: The project originated from a collaboration spearheaded by artist Es Devlin and musician Brian Eno following a major benefit concert at London's OVO Arena Wembley.
The Track: It is a reimagining of "Yamma Mawil al Hawa" ("Mama, Sing to the Wind"), a traditional and beloved Palestinian folk song.
The Vocals: The arrangement was crafted by Kieran Brunt and celebrated Palestinian vocalist Nai Barghouti. It features over 15 UK and Palestinian artists, including Brian Eno, Neneh Cherry, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, accompanied by the London Community Gospel Choir
The Lyrics: The song blends the original Arabic folk lyrics with additional Arabic verses from the renowned Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, alongside new English verses written by Peter Gabriel
