haven&rupture

haven&rupture is a collection of photographs documenting life in Gaza before and after the genocide. The series captures the transformation of everyday life through shifting landscapes, altered environments, and the loss of vibrancy once present in familiar scenes. The contrast is also reflected in the photographic medium itself, transitioning from professionally captured images to those taken on an iPhone amid the realities of survival and displacement

haven.

haven is a visual remembrance of Gaza as a place of life, intimacy, and belonging. Through vibrant landscapes, shared moments, and people moving freely through familiar streets, the series captures the tenderness of everyday existence before devastation. Homes carried warmth, communities gathered in rhythm, and ordinary moments held an unspoken sense of continuity. In preserving these fragments of joy, color, and connection, haven becomes both a memory and a testimony to a life interrupted.

rupture.

Rupture bears witness to the unraveling of life as Gaza is transformed by genocide. Familiar spaces collapse into rubble, skies become marked by smoke and uncertainty, and the rhythm of daily life is interrupted by displacement, loss, and survival. Children move through a world suddenly altered, carrying fragments of innocence amid destruction, while families navigate grief, fear, and the instability of an unknown tomorrow. The series reflects the profound rupture of place, memory, and continuity, capturing the weight of living through devastation as it unfolds.
